ICOMAM 2024 conference
The week of 30 September 2024 marked the ICOMAM 2024 conference, the annual international gathering of military museums. This year, the conference was organised in London, and hosted by the National Army Museum. As usual, a delegation from the War Heritage Institute was also there to present new research, network and attend truly interesting lectures.
It was a particularly successful conference, with a record number of invited guests representing museums from all over the world. The conference kicked off with a particularly impressive evening reception at the Tower of London. The following days were then filled with presentations on the theme ‘Science, Technology & the Military’ and visits to the many museums London has to offer. Staff from the Collections Dept. of the War Heritage Institute also presented their expertise on dangerous heritage and research on World War I tanks at the Royal Military Museum.
Meetings like ICOMAM allow us to keep up with the latest developments in the sector, get to know our international colleagues (which benefits collaborations!) and, above all, be inspired by a professional network worldwide.
